Job Overview:
Haringtons Boutique Hotel & Apartments is looking for a confident, organised, and personable Assistant Manager to work 9-hour shifts (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) for two days per week, covering for the General Manager. You’ll oversee daily hotel and apartment operations, manage the team, and ensure exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight (General Manager’s Days Off):
- Conduct morning team briefings, allocating tasks to the housekeeping team and other staff.
- Manage the smooth running of daily operations, including check-ins, check-outs, and guest interactions.
- Monitor housekeeping progress to ensure rooms and apartments are ready for guests on time.
- Act as the first point of contact and have the hotel mobile phone redirected to you for any on-site issues, ensuring swift and effective resolution.
Staff Supervision and Support:
- Supervise and motivate the housekeeping team to maintain high standards.
- Adjust daily schedules to accommodate last-minute changes, such as bookings or staff absences.
- Provide support and leadership to team members throughout the shift.
- Conduct regular performance checks and report recurring issues to the General Manager.
Guest Experience:
- Handle guest enquiries, special requests, and complaints with professionalism and a friendly attitude.
- Assist with VIP guests or special occasions to ensure their needs are met.
- Promote positive guest experiences by proactively solving issues and ensuring satisfaction.
Administration and Reporting:
- Review and update handover notes at the start and end of each shift.
- Manage basic financial tasks, including cash floats and daily summaries.
- Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies, guest amenities, and other essentials, placing orders when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of guest feedback, maintenance issues, and team performance.
Maintenance and Standards:
- Inspect rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation meet brand standards.
- Coordinate and report any maintenance issues to the relevant team, following up on outstanding items.
Sample Day-to-Day Schedule:
- 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM:
- Review handover notes and prepare for the day.
- Conduct team briefing to assign tasks and set priorities.
- 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM:
- Oversee housekeeping operations and address guest queries or concerns.
- Conduct room and apartment checks, ensuring readiness for arrivals.
- 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM:
- Lunch break.
- 1:00 PM – 4:30 PM:
- Continue managing housekeeping and guest services.
- Handle check-ins for early arrivals and follow up on maintenance issues.
- 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM:
- Write end-of-shift reports and handover notes for the General Manager.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous supervisory or management experience in hospitality, however full training is provided for current Harington’s employees.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with a calm and professional demeanour under pressure.
- Flexibility to work weekends and adapt to the needs of a dynamic environment.

- Working hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (depending on occupancy).
- Minimum of 25 hours per week.
- Weekend availability is essential. Candidates must be able to work at least 2 weekends per month to be considered for the role.

Room and Apartment Cleaning:
- Clean and prepare guest rooms, including changing bed linens, dusting, vacuuming, and sanitising bathrooms.
- Deep clean serviced apartments, focusing on kitchens, living areas, and bathrooms, as required.
- Replenish guest amenities and supplies, such as toiletries, towels, and tea/coffee items.
- Ensure rooms and apartments are presented to the highest standards for guest arrivals.
Public Areas:
- Maintain cleanliness in public areas such as hallways, the lounge, and the breakfast room.
- Empty bins, polish surfaces, and ensure communal spaces are presentable.
Supervisory Opportunities (Desirable Skill):
- Check rooms and apartments to ensure they meet the hotel’s quality standards.
- Provide feedback to team members if standards are not met (training provided).
- Report any recurring issues to the manager.
Reporting and Maintenance:
- Identify and report maintenance issues, such as broken fixtures or faulty equipment, to the manager.
- Communicate inventory shortages, including cleaning supplies and guest amenities.
Sample Day-to-Day Schedule:
- 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM: Clean assigned rooms or apartments based on occupancy.
- 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch break.
- 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Continue cleaning, conduct room checks (if applicable), and ensure public areas are tidy.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: At least 1 year of verifiable professional cleaning experience.
- Flexibility: Must be available to work weekends (minimum 2 weekends per month).
- Skills: Attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently.
- Desirable Skill: Supervisory potential with a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
